MoonchildRose pt.1

It’s been a while! After a bit of a hiatus or break or whatever you want to call it, I have decided to try to keep this page updated a little more often. Recently I’ve begun shooting again, and usually what follows is the thought of what to do with the images once they’re done so… let’s post them here! Between work and having classes I can’t promise non stop new material, but in-between new sets I can post some older sets I don’t really have shared anywhere except Instagram. I will try my best to do at least a post per week.
Since that’s now been established let’s start off with one of my first shoots to start the year of 2019! It’s always awesome seeing old friends again. Especially those you haven’t seen in a few years. One such person is Quyhn @ _moonchildrose_ on IG. We first shot together years ago and made some awesome photos!
I’ve never been an overly complicated person, especially when it comes to photography. So we came up with some simple outfit ideas to shoot. Nothing too fancy, but the end results were great.

Quyhn definitely embraced her inner big cat lol. It’s always great to shoot with someone who uses every inch of their environment during a shoot.

I’ll end this post here, but it’s definitely to be continued. This was one of three outfits I’d wish to share with you. So stay tuned!

Jae Stokes

One of the main reasons for the trip to Los Angeles was to create content and shoot a short video for a local Houston artist named Jae Stokes(IG: @jae_la_soul). He creates some of the best hip hop I've heard coming out of Houston in a while. As he sticks true to the roots of hip hop with his lyrics and delivery style. give his sound cloud a listen and peep some of the images we captured of him while in L.A.

Chrry in Los Angeles

Recently we got to take a trip/vacation to Los Angeles. We headed out west to shoot some content for a long time friend of ours and local hip hop artist by the name of Jae Stokes(IG: @jae_la_soul) And check out his sound cloud at www.soundcloud.com/reupgangstokes if you're into good hip hop and check out his mixtape.
Of course no trip to L.A. would be complete without King Taco or Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, and a good dosage of the Pacific Ocean air. And as it just so happened we had the privilege of getting to bring along a Leica m240 as well as a Nikon D800. Though Most if not all of the photos on this post will be from either the Leica or an iPhone 7 plus, as the D800 was mainly on video duty(watch this site for when the music video is done and posted up!) Hope you can sit back and enjoy this small collection of photos from L.A. and surrounding areas.

Turnaways at Walters Downtown

This set is actually from 2015 when The Turnaways were playing a set at Walter's Downtown. This was the first chance I'd get to meet everyone in the band and hear them live before eventually going on a west coast tour. If you've never had the chance to go check out a show at Walter's it's an awesome atmosphere. Only thing photographically speaking is the lighting can be a bit of a challenge. But it definitely made for some dramatic and interesting shots.

New York sights

Not too long ago I got the great chance to visit New York City around Thanksgiving time. Nothing really compares to that nervous, almost anxious feeling you get when your plane is coming in on the runway and you were fortunate enough to snag a window seat so you can watch that iconic skyline appear in your window as the plane begins it's descent. As soon as you feel the wheels touch and you hear the applause from your fellow passengers for the pilot not killing everyone upon landing is when you know you've officially arrived in New York. Not only did I bring my D800 on this trip, but I also rented a fuji x100s form lensrentals.com as I knew I wanted something small rand lighter to just walk around with. Being form Houston New York City in late November is definitely not something I'm use to weather wise. I think each day there it was a cool 30 degrees and windy. But that didn't detract from the trip at all.
